Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Halle Kuck. I am a currently a sophomore at Roncalli High School in Aberdeen, SD.  I began swmming at the age of 7 where I instantly developed a passion for the sport. I have learned many valuable lessons through swimming and overcome many large obstacles. I have learned that in order to achieve success, you must overcome adversity first. Swimming brings many challenges, but those challanges are what fuels my love for the sport. 

I am very coachable athlete. I have been fortunate enough to be voted "Most Dedicated" and "Hardest Worker" multiple times by my coaches on my club team. Not only am I coachable, but I am also a very well rounded athlete. I have competed in cross country and track for my high school since 7th grade, and I have been able to compete at both the state cross country and state track meets multiple times. I was also fortunate enough to be twice voted as "Most Valuable Athelete" on my cross country team. I take pride in maintaining a 4.0 GPA and believe that education should be a very large part in my life. 

Some of the accomplishments I am most proud of in swimming are competing at Sectionals since I was 12 years old  and qualifying for Futures the winter of my 8th grade year. I have been a multiple-time state champion and state record holder in South Dakota. However, what I am most proud of is being a part of my club team's state championship titles in 2014 and 2016, as well as being a part of multiple state record holding relays.

Outside of sports I am very active in my community. I am thankful for the opportunity to teach kids about this wonderful sport through our club team's Learn to Swim program. I also started my own buisness at age 15 where I teach private swim lessons.  Swimming collegiately has been a major goal of mine since I was very young, and I would love to pursue that dream in the years to come.

  • Notes: Was State individual champion in the 50 free at the S.D. Short Course State Championships and a member of the State Champion Girls 17-19 4 X 100 Free Relay.
  • 2018 Aberdeen Swim Club (Age Group)
  • Notes: At the 2018 SD Short Course Championships I was State Champion in the 100 free breaking the state meet record and 2nd in the 50 free. I achieved a Futures cut in the 50 free. I was also a member of our club's girls 13-14 200 and 400 free and medley relays which broke all 4 State Records in those events. I qualified for and swam in the 2018 Spring Speedo Sectionals in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, swimming the 50, 100, and 200 free, 100 back and 200 I.M. as well as the 400 and 800 free relays and 400 Medley Relay. I swam personal bests in the 100 and 200 free and the 100 back at Sectionals. I qualified for finals in the 50, 100 and 200 free as well. Swam at the Futures Meet in the 50 free and 100 back in Rochester, MN. Swam for Team South Dakota at 14 & Under Zone Meet in Minneapolis. Made A final in the 50 and 100 free and B final in the 200 free and 50 back.

  • Notes: During the 2017 Long Course State Meet I was state champion in the 50 and 100 free styles and 2nd in the 200 free. I was also 3rd in the 200 I.M. and 200 fly. I was also a member of our club's girls 13-14 200 & 400 freestyle and medley relays that broke all 4 South Dakota State records in those events. I qualified for the Central Zones 14 & U meet in Rochester, MN and placed 5th in the 50 free and 12th in the 100 free swimming personal bests in each of those races. I also split a 59.86 in the freestyle leg of our 400 medley relay at Zones. In the short course season I qualified for the Speedo Sectionals meet in Iowa City, IA where I swam the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle, 200 and 400 medley relays, and 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
  • 2016 Aberdeen Swim Club (Age group)
  • Notes: I was a state champion in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and 50 and 100 backstroke. I set new state meet records in the 50 free and 100 backstroke at the South Dakota State Long Course Championships. During the short course season I was a member of my club's relays at the Speedo Sectionals Meet in Pleasant Prairie, WI. At the State Short Course Championships I was a state champion in the 50 and 100 freestyles. I was also a member of the 200 freestyle and medley relays which broke the state records for those events. I finished 2nd place in high point for 11-12 girls.
