Swimming and academics have greatly influenced who I am today. For me, success in the pool breeds success in academics. Both swimming and school have brought me friends with similar academic and athletic goals. Many of these friendships have impacted both myself and my team/classmates in positive ways; we work harder and motivate each other to reach our goals. Although I go to bed later and wake up earlier than most of my classmates, I enjoy driving to the pool and suffering with my swim friends who share the same lifestyle as I do. I love finishing difficult Saturday morning practices, driving to Chick-fil-A with my teammates, and enjoying breakfast together. After difficult afternoon practices I enjoy settling into my schoolwork, even after many of my teammates have gone to bed, I am typically accompanied by my school friends at the library. Early on in swimming I learned that diligence in the pool made for better times, and from then on, I applied the same work ethic inside of the pool as I did outside of it. My love for learning and swimming have influenced my choices in friends and, with the support of these friends I continue to strive in the academic and athletic environments.
