My first memory of a pool was when I was four years old. My instructor tried to convince me to jump in, but I was too scared. Someone's father attempted to make a deal with me. He said he would get in the water with all of his clothes on, if I would get in for my lesson. But, I was too terrified. Finally, a very nice lifeguard convinced me to climb down the steps and she taught me my first lesson on swimming. I have loved swimming ever since. The more I swim, the more I like it, and the more I like it, the more I want to continue improving my strokes and times.
For me, swimming has become a larger and larger aspect of my life. Swimming helps my body and my mind. I have been extremely healthy ever since I started swimming competitively. Swimming in the mornings helps me wake up in the mornings and focus on the long day ahead, while swimming in the afternoons or evenings helps me relieve stress and get focused on my homework.
I enjoy being a part of a team. It's like having another family. I absolutely love celebrating other peoples wins or comforting their losses. I live for cheering people on at meets, or even at practice. I just really love the competitive environment that swimming offers and the bonds that I make with my team mates.
