Personal Statement
- My name is Akalia Bostock and I’ll be graduating with the class of 2020. I started swimming when I was six years old and instantly fell in love with the sport. My family has supported my love for swim for years and continues to support me in following my dreams of one day swimming in College. My swimming accomplishments includes a number of Utah State Records with my High School (Timpview High School) and Competitive (UV Rays) swim teams. This last year I achieved my Sectional Time Standards and am currently working towards Junior National Time Standards. I ran cross country and lettered both my freshman and sophomore year in high school. I’ve also competed in a few running races across the state of Utah and Arizona. Academically I’ve achieved honors status maintaining a 3.87 GPA through honors and advance practice courses. I take great pride in excelling in both sport and academics.I am looking to be successful in a collegiate swimming program. My goals for the year include obtaining my Junior National Time Standards and continue to maintain honor’s status academically. I have worked hard in gaining an understanding of how to maintain the proper nutrition and sleep habits to help me achieve my goals. My goals include strength training, and stroke focus in improving my technique and decreasing my time by the end of my junior and senior year in high school.
