Personal Statement
My swimming career started 7 years ago at the local YMCA. I was practicing several times a week for the 2 years I swam with them. After making reginals and realizing that I was not as fast as I may have thought I decided I wanted more. I joined a local competative club team. I started practicing 6 days a week and loving it. I went from a BB swimmer to a AA or AAA swimmer in a few short years.
I now practice before school 3 days a week ( waking up at 4 am) and 5 days a week after school. We also practice Saturday mornings. I also attend crossfit classes 3 days a week and do dryland on the pool deck for a few minutes before swimming most days. My friends don't know how I do it, but I love it. I actually feel better on the days I have morning practice than I do the days I get to sleep till 6:30. I feel like I perform better in school and life with a busy schedule.
I think swimming has helped me obtain my good work ethic both in and out of the pool. Staying so busy doesnt allow me to procrastinate or "be lazy". I think staying so busy all year is what helps me attain and keep a GPA over 4.0. I have always maintained an A honor roll status even while attending STEM H and taking advanced classes.
I'm looking forward to continuing to swim and succeed in the classroom during my college years. Once completeing my four year undergaduate college degree, I plan to continue on to vet school. I have always wanted to be a veterinarian. I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I am excited to see where it leads me.
