Personal Statement

My name is Chandler Shirer, a 5'4" junior from Prince George, Va. I have been in the senior group on my club team since I was 13 years old. My high school, unfortunately, does not have a swim team. I qualified and attended Eastern Zones and I am currently working on attaining Junior National cuts in several events. I am looking for a University that will give me a wide range of opportunities in the pool and in the classroom. Ideally, I am looking for a college town atmosphere with a positive athletic environment. Although I want to be an important part of my team, my goal is to swim on a team at the top of their conference that I can grow, and work my way up to be one of the fastest swimmers by my senior year. Ever since I can remember my dream has been to swim competitively in college and I plan on making that dream reality.
