Personal Statement
More than anything, swimming makes me happy. This sport has helped me develop confidence and to set/reach goals in other parts of my life, and it has taught me to be a better leader. I've also formed lasting friendships with fellow athletes and coaches over the years.
In the pool, my strengths are IM, fly, and breast. When WA state limited practices/competitions due to Covid 19 (March 2020 - June 2021), I began biking and exploring open water swimming to complement swim team and to stay physically fit. In September 2021, I competed in Ironman 70.3 Washington, finishing the open water portion of the competition first for all women, and 10th overall.
My academic interests include history, psychology, and criminology, and I hope to study law someday. I enjoy keeping up with current technologies, and helping others learn them, too.
Coaches and teachers would tell you I work hard and that I enjoy discussions and learning other perspectives. Finding a university that will continue to foster that and challenge me in both the pool and the classroom is important. I am looking forward to being a part of a team who supports each other like family. Thank you for your consideration.
