Personal Statement
Very early on in life I found out that I’m very committed and driven. Swimming has helped me become the person I am today. Since I was a baby I have always loved the water. When I was 9 years old my mom put me into swim lessons at our local YMCA. My swim instructor immediately saw my potential and said to my parents “get this girl on our swim team!” Once I joined the swim team I realized how much I loved competing and loved being a swimmer on a swim team. Not only did I love racing, but I loved the bonds that developed with my new swim family. I think through the years swimming has taught me many valuable lessons in life. I have developed a strong work ethic, I am very responsible, and passionate about the things and people I love. I have the determination to be the best person in and out of the pool I can be. Swimming helped me stay motivated in school and in swimming itself, it pushed me to try my best. The most important thing I’ve leaned through swimming is that you are capable of doing anything as long as you put your mind to it and give it your best effort. This year in high school my academic goals are to maintain my GPA or aim for a higher one. For my college goals I want to get into a nursing program and eventually receive my BSN. I enjoy taking care of people and making them feel better if they have an issue. As a person I am determined, persistent, flexible, honest, loyal and a problem solver.
