Personal Statement
My name is Sadye and I absolutely love to swim. I have been a competitive swimmer since the age of six, which has made me a dedicated and passionate athlete. My years of swimming have made me an individual that is willing to push my body and mind, willing to wake up at 4:30 in the morning, willing to actively listen and learn from my coaches, and willing and eager to contribute to a supportive (and competitive) team environment. More than anything, I love the balance of fun and seriousness that comes with swimming. My goal to swim at the collegiate level on a supportive and competitive team is driven by these core athletic values.
Outside of swimming, I work to be just as dedicated and hardworking. In school, I have maintained straight As and have always been a very detail-oriented and quick student that loves to learn and seek new academic challenges. STEM and English are my favorite subjects, and I enjoy combining my creativity and knowledge into innovation and fun results. Outside of school, I have many hobbies. During the pandemic, I picked up watercolor painting as a hobby and later turned it into an Etsy Business named "Livable Home." Here is a link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/LivableHome. I also love to knit and crochet and am starting a nonprofit called "Knitting for Needs," which will create hats, scarves, and toys to donate to local Seattle shelters. To support my organization, I applied for and received a grant from King County under the Youth Mental Health Project, as my goal is to bring together other youth to learn to knit, form bonds with other members, de-stress, and contribute their time to not only improve their own mental health, but the mental health of the women and children that will be receiving our goods.
