Personal Statement
I am a determined and hard working student, athlete and worker. I believe I can do anything I put my mind to. I went into last year's 08-09 swim season five seconds short of the YMCA national cut. With a season of hard work, I pushed myself to improve so I could go to '09 Nationals. At YMCA state, I dropped seven seconds exceeding the national cut by two seconds. Despite the difficultly of practices I love the benefit of them. This year during my High School season, I earned All Conference, achieved the conference record, received MVP, and broke the high school pool record. As a junior, I was team captain due to leadership, motivation and my dedication to the sport.
As a college swim team member, I believe I can offer strong sportsmanship, encouragement, enthusiasm, commitment, and knowing what hard work can accomplish. It is my goal to be able to earn the opportunity to swim in meets as a freshman. I have been swimming now for nine years; swimming is something I will not give up. I value the synergy of being part of a team and knowing all the hard work that each team member puts into the sport to accomplish individual and team goals. I have an immense competitive drive which makes me enjoy competing so much.
I am also a very happy person, easy to get along with, and take direction and constructive criticism well. I am interested in all kinds of colleges whether large or small. Geographically, I am particularly interested in the Midwest, Eastern states as well as Texas, California and Arizona. My goals are to better myself in swimming while getting a valuable education to become competitive and marketable in the workforce.
I have always wanted to do something in the medical field, where I would like to become a pediatric oncologist. With my passion for children and the medical field, I look forward to making an impact in medicine relative to how I can assist in the cure and continue to explore cures for children so that they may one day experience their childhood and participate in the sports they enjoy.
