Personal Statement
My name is Keeley Arendt. I live in sunny Southern California , in a community called Canyon Lake. I am a junior at Temescal Canyon High school, where I have played Varsity Tennis since freshman year. My athletics didn’t start with Tennis. My first love was hip hop. I have competed and won in national dance competitions since I was seven years old. Since my parents didn’t consider dance a sport, they also had me taking tennis lessons twice a week with the local Pro, because they felt it was important that I pick a sport to play, and commit at least for a year. I picked tennis, and have been playing since I was 7. So many years, I was just going through the motions. Don’t get me wrong I really loved it when I was on the court, but hip- hop was my first love. It wasn’t until the summer of my freshman year when I started USTA tournament play, where I knew this was it. I love the Adrenalin rush of tennis tournament play. That summer I went from a Southern California USTA ranking from the 1400’s to the low 400’s. When I look back on my Hip Hop dance career, I realize now how much it has helped my feet move on the tennis court.
Our junior season just came to an end where we won the division 5 CIF title, first in the schools history. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life, I played the final match, my teammates and coaches rushed the court. We screamed and cried and laughed and screamed and cried. So exciting! More than ever now I’m motivated to take my tennis to the highest level I can.
For the rest of this season and upcoming summer I will be concentrating on my grades and upcoming SAT’s and continue to play USTA and UTR tournaments. I’m am totally committed to becoming the best student athlete I can be.
I’m looking for a college that inspires. A college that inspires me to take my life to new horizons. Motivate me, excite me , challenge me to do as much as I can. My career, ( and I have no idea what that will be) will take me around the globe. I love people of all race and religion, I love perspective and opinion from every country on this planet. That is why I’m looking for a strong liberal arts background. A background that will be my foundation to help build my future.
