I was born in New York City, but I grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I am so grateful for my time in Brazil: witnessing the vast economic disparity and lack of opportunity some people have made me appreciate my life, have my family, tennis and my opportunities. I attribute much of my growth to competition on the ITF circuit. Playing at this level improved my competition skills, especially under pressure.
Competing internationally also gave me the gift of playing doubles with my twin sister (in Brazil, most of the tournaments didn't have doubles). We learned to work together in new ways, and our games complement each other - she's left handed and I'm right handed. Finally, I think that I am a strong candidate for your team because I bring a diverse perspective and am committed to positively contributing to the community as both a student and an athlete. I intend on majoring in engineering, and studying economics and African American Studies
