I live by a code, which is…“Don't let others define your success." I first read this quote on a fortune cookie from Panda Express, right outside the BNP Paribas Open pro tournament, on my 15th birthday. You're probably thinking that is the most cliché thing you've ever read, but it's true.
Starting tennis at an older age was mentaly very tough. People constantly told me I wasn't going to make, not now, not ever, not at my age. Nevertheless, I chose to think other wise and I'm living proof that they were wrong about me. I've practiced many sports throughout my childhood, always putting out my absolute best every minute of everyday. I'm passionate in what I do, I enjoy it and love that tennis is a sport that challenges you in every possible way. In other sports your performance may be percieved as constant and steady whereas in tennis, that is not the case and it's what makes it so much more interesting. You continously face new challenges and it's up to you to percieve it, adapt to it and keep fighting.
Playing college tennis would be an incredible opportunity. Meeting so many new people, discoverying new passions and becoming part of a team in a sport that is considered very individual, is what excites me the most. I hope this dream becomes true and that I will become the asset you are looking for.
