Personal Statement
I have been playing tennis with my family since I was in kindergarten. I grew up playing on the public city courts as well as watching and being a ball girl at The Ojai Tennis Tournament. Every year I watched the PAC 12 college teams competing, and every year my desire to be a part of a collegiate tennis team grew. Along with my desire, my strength and game also grew as I became more competitive and skillful.
I have a good grasp of a variety of strokes and feel confident with an all court game. I am very coachable and open-minded when it comes to new ideas. I am also hardworking and try to do the most I can when it comes to improving my game. I train year-round by running, jumping rope, and hitting the gym.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. My community service hours always exceed the maximum and I have taken my love for tennis beyond the courts by working in the tennis pro-shop, teaching Quickstart lessons, and hitting with teenage guests at The Broadmoor Resort.
I want to attend a college that is small/medium sized because developing strong relationships in the classroom, in addition to on the courts, is important to me. I strive to be strong academically and athletically in college and of service in the community at large. I dream of being on a team where I will contribute to a successful team experience, with passionate tennis players and coaches that will push me to stretch and grow my game.
