Personal Statement
I have been playing tennis since I was eight years old. After only four lessons, I decided that I wanted to be a tennis pro. I see myself teaching tennis or managing a tennis club as my future career. My college goals reflect that in that I want to play tennis, so I want to be in the top five, and not just a member of the team.
I take private and group lessons and play USTA tournaments about two weekends a month. 2020 was a difficult year, not only due to coronavirus restrictions but also because my coach moved away.
I am homeschooled, but because I live in Florida I can play on the high school team. As a freshman, I was the number one girl. Our girls' team was undefeated and had our sights on the state championship before our season was cut short due to coronavirus. I won the Rookie of the Year award and co-MVP.
In 2021 I played line 2 singles and line 1 doubles. Our high school team went undefeated and swept our District 2-3A. We won Regionals and advanced to the Florida High School State competition where we advanced to the final four before being eliminated by the previous winner, Doral. I was awarded the Spark Plug award for always being ready for practice and my positive attitude.
I was the only player in the top 6 who didn't graduate last year. With 4 juniors not returning for their final year of tennis, our team this year doesn't have much experience, but I'm thankful that we were able to find enough players to compete. It has also given me a chance to be a leader on the team.
