Personal Statement
Since I was a little girl, playing a high level of tennis was always a dream of mine. Now that I am a junior in high school, the opportunity to play college tennis has presented itself and I want to do my best to take that opportunity and use it to my advantage. Being a team player has become more and more important to me as well as growing relationships with my coaches and teammates, and this is one of the things I can offer to bring onto any college team. Another thing I can offer to a college team is to give my time and 100% effort in everything that I do. I'm a good candidate for a college tennis team because I can get along well with other people who share the same interests as me which makes it easier to communicate with my teammates.
Apart from tennis, academics are a big part of who I am; I have always been taught to put academics first and, personally, I think that’s a good move for rising athletes. Although I don’t have a specific major set, I would like study something in the medical field in college, such as nursing, oral surgery, or cosmetic dentistry. Saying that, I hope I can find a college that has a great tennis program while also having a great medical program. Apart from tennis, I also enjoy volunteering in the community; I love helping coaches at local tennis camps so that I can share my skill with others and encourage them to take up the great sport of tennis.
The reason i chose to play tennis out of the many sports I could have chosen was because there is something about playing alone that really caught my attention; no one to blame for mistakes or lost points and I was the one in charge of my own game. Through tennis I have come to know that I am a natural leader meaning that I am quick to do something out of my comfort zone and am pretty much just an outgoing person which I think would work well in a college environment.
