Personal Statement
Tennis has always been a huge part of my life. I have learned so many different skills that have really affected my character. My characteristics include being trustworthy, organized, independent, driven, competitive, and a strong leader for my team. I strive to not only become a better person as i transition into college, but I also want to learn from and better those around me. My goal is to provide strong leadership, love, and support for all my teammates. I am the player that is always in the gym or on the court even after practice trying to be the best. When I am not bettering my tennis, I am doing school and trying to gain as much knowledge as I can. School has always been very important to me. In school, my favorite subjects consist of English and History. Writing and listening to music are some of my favorite hobbies. Ever since I was younger, I have always been a social butterfly; this definitely gives me confidence to step up and be a leader. Although I am very social, I prioritize well and I know what's most important.
I started playing when I was five years old and always had big goals. Some of my goals are to play at my fullest potential and work hard to play on the professional tour. Although I'm a junior, I have started to research different schools and majors. I am looking to major in law (criminal or corporate), sports communications, or sports broadcasting. Some pull factors in colleges include strong academics, a diverse population, and a highly ranked D1, supportive and competitive, tennis team. I am also looking for a school located near big cities. There are many accomplishments I feel I have had over the course of the beginning of my junior career. This includes a scholarship to Evert Tennis Academy, having a 3.7-4.0 GPA for the majority of my life, being state doubles champion for two years (2016-2017), a handful of section wins, and making it to the doubles semi-finals of the Jamaica cup ITF. I am very grateful and blessed to have the oppurtunity to be able to transition into playing more international tournaments in the last year. I am extremely excited for the next couple of years of high school and journey to finding the perfect college for myself.
