Personal Statement
Because of my unique situation as a military dependent I have moved every 2-3 years and traveled all over the country and world. While it made it difficult to focus on one region or rating scale, it has also allowed me the incredible opportunity to train with various coaches to include John Atiso VA Beach (VA Beach Tennis & Country Club), and Daniel Merkert - Sindelfingen Germany (Merkert Tennisakademie), and Kieth & Jamie Childree -Valdosta GA.
While in Germany I was selected to play on the Sindelfingen Damen-2 team for which we won the German Regional championships. Also while in Germany I elected to play club level soccer as compliment my tennis game as a way of incorporating cross training. Unfortunately here in Valdosta the tennis and soccer seasons are coincident so I have replaced soccer with both Cross Country (rookie of the year award) and before school personal trainer strength and conditioning sessions.
During my High School tennis carrier I have maintained the #1 singles seed, #2 player in the region, and led our team to both regional victory and state qualification. Additionally, I am fortunate to be located in close proximity to Valdosta State University allowing me to regularly train with various members of their college tennis teams.
Finally, I think its crucial to know that I am very much a whole person concept girl which is why I find it both rewarding and important to stay deeply involved with not only competitive tennis... but also academics, community, and leadership activities. Last year I chose to embark in my High School's rigorous International Baccalaureate program and have maintained a 4.0 GPA; all while also playing an active role in our local BETA and Interact clubs, Leadership Lowndes and YMCA Leadership teams, and volunteering as a member of our local Sigma Volunteer chapter here in Valdosta.
I love being part of a team and am excited to have open/frank conversations about my potential at your school.
