- 2019 Highlights
Personal Statement
My name is Emma Henderson, and I'm a senior at Geneva High School in Illinois. I have been playing tennis for 7 years, and I have always loved the competition of the game. Ever since I started playing tennis I knew I wanted to continue throughout college. I believe I have very strong work ethic and am tenacious on and off the court. I love to challenge myself academically and athletically. I currently have a 4.53 GPA and I take honors and AP classes to push myself. In my first two tennis seasons my team won Conference I won All-Conference in doubles those years as well. For my upcoming season I am working to qualify for state. In addition to tennis, I play the flute in the marching band and the top concert band in my school which I am also very passionate about. I love playing my flute and especially like playing in our band because everyone is so supportive, and it feels like a big family.
In college I am looking for a school with very strong academics and a tight knit team. My favorite aspect of tennis is that in the high school season I get to be a part of a team. To me it's very important that team members have each other's backs. Having this support is important to me because it means that we have people to push each other to be the best athletes and people we can be. I also enjoy playing doubles because of this aspect.
Some classes I am currently taking are AP Langauge and Composition, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Spanish Language, and Contemporary American Issues. Of these classes I particularly enjoy statistics, Spanish, and American Issues. I also really enjoy politics because I feel by becoming involved in politics I can actually make a difference in the world. This is why I will major in political science.
Thanks for getting to know me, and I can't wait to begin my college experience!
