Hi, my name is Ava Marroni and I am currently in 11th grade at Marion High School in Marion, Indiana. I finished my second season of varsity high school tennis last season with a record of 17-4 at #3 singles.
I have been playing tennis since I was 9 years old. From the moment I stepped on to the tennis court at a young age, I knew tennis was the sport for me. Immediately, I fell in love with tennis and have continued to love it to this day.
I have played in multiple tournaments over the last 7 years as well as our county's spring USTA junior team tennis league for 4 years. Unfortunately, the team tennis league was cancelled when COVID happened and it was never started back up again. I have played in the USTA junior team tennis northern Indiana district championship in South Bend, Indiana and Midwest Section Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana and South Bend, Indiana which has been so much fun and exciting! At the 2023 Midwest Section Championships, my team placed 3rd out of 11 teams which was an improvement from last year where we placed 5th or 6th (I don't remember what place we got last year). I am continuing to play in as many tournaments as I can to gain experience which will help me to keep improving throughout my future high school tennis career as well as my future college tennis career. My UTR is low right now but I feel that is because it is difficult for me to get to a lot of tournaments. Most tournaments are out of town and I cannot get to them on time because of finishing my school day on Fridays. I play as many as I can and I know I have the ability to bring my UTR up.
Academics are very important to me as well. My parents have also stressed the importance of academics to me. I feel I am a great athlete as well as a great student and would be an asset to any college tennis team.
I am very interested in attending a college or university that has a wonderful photography/visual arts program. I became interested in the art of photography and developed a passion for it at approximately 11 years old, and I made the decision that photography is what I would like to do as a career after college.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to dedicating myself to an outstanding college tennis program and working hard as a student-athlete to achieve my full potential as a college tennis player.
