My name is Clara Whitaker, I am 16 years old and a Junior at Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School in Wichita, KS. I am currently 5’8”, 125 lbs. In summer competition, I recently placed 2ndat the USTA MV U16 Supers #2, 3rd at the Kansas Open District Championship U18 in singles, and my partner and I won the Doubles U18 tournament. I was recently named to The Topeka Capital-Journals Best of Kansas Preps Elite Tennis team for the second straight year and nominated for the 2019 The Catchy’s (Catch it Kansas – KWCH News Chanel) Best Tennis Player. I was also recently selected for the USTA Missouri Valley Intersectional and Zonals Teams.
I also received First High Honors Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.9688
Just recently complete my Junior High School Tennis season and won 10/11 high school tournaments, finishing with a record of 32-1 (103-5), winning the City League Tournament, the Kansas 5A Regional Championship, and defending My Kansas 5A State Championship Singles Title for the second time as my team won the Kansas State Team Title.
My sister, Emma 2017, plays golf at Oklahoma State University.
Similar to my sister’s golf structure, we have been able to create an academy like atmosphere with the help of Wichita Country Club. My main coach is Rex Coad, but I spend lots of time hitting with Lucy Kovalova (played at Wichita State University). Like my sister, I train with Bill O’Conner at APEX who has worked with many Division I athletes. I also work with an agility coach, Bobby Wesley.
I realize playing college tennis is very difficult, but with hard work I believe I can accomplish my dreams. Thank you for viewing me on tennisrecruiter.com and the USTA website. I will keep you updated of my future tournaments and look forward to meeting you one day. You can find my most up to date information on my NCSA website.
Thank you for your time and consideration
