Personal Statement
I have been playing tennis since I was in 6th grade. My uncle coached at a club in Toledo, Ohio and the first time I went to one of his lessons, I instantly fell in love with the sport. I have been working since then to improve my game and become a better player. I played 4 singles on the Varsity team at Dexter High School my freshman year, 3 doubles on the Varsity team my sophomore year, and 3 singles on the Varsity team my junior year. I am a captain for the upcoming 2019 tennis season, and am striving to get better to be what my team needs me to be to potentially go to States during the season. When I'm not playing tennis, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and my family, riding my bike, going camping, and volunteering at my church.
In college, I plan on going into Nursing and playing tennis in college. I am very energetic and make sure everyone on my team at Dexter High School tries their best and has fun on the tennis court. I am a team player, and strive to be a leader by being a positive influence to my peers. During the year of 2016, my family moved from Ohio to Michigan to start a church in Ann Arbor. We knew no one here, except for my uncle who was moving with us, and were starting a church completely from scratch. Throughout that experience, I learned that you can never do great things without perseverance, determination, patience, and most importantly, trust in God. I show what I have learned on the tennis court. I persevere through tough points and lost sets. I don't let losing break me down, and I don't let it break down the other girls on my team. I am determined to try my hardest on and off the tennis court to become the best tennis player I can be. I am excited for what the future has to hold for my tennis career.
