Personal Statement

My name is Greer McElroy and I've been playing tennis and golf for half my life.  I began organized tennis when I was 8 and golf when I was 11.  I also loved and played lacrosse at a young age but had to narrow down my sports, so golf and tennis pulled me a little harder!  As a current Senior in high school, I've been on the Varsity Tennis team for 4 years.  I am hopeful that Covid19 stats sill improve and we will have a Spring 2021 season.  I played 1 Doubles my freshman year and 4 Singles my Sophomore year.  The C19 pandemic disrupted my Junior season just as we were being seeded.  I was on the JV Golf team my Freshman year and the Varsity Golf team my Sophomore and Junior years.

I've been told my whole life that I'm a natural leader with compassion and have filled that role many times in my academic life.  I've been a member of my school's Leadership program (Student Council) for three years now, where I helped with team committees such as the school's Homecoming Parade and festivities.  I also have a passion for voice and singing and have been a member of my school's top performance choir, The Chamber Choir, having been specially selected by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to perform with them the past two years for their Holiday Concert at Orchestra Hall.  I have often been described as outgoing and confident.  I would also say that I'm always up for a challenge!

I would love to continue playing golf or tennis at the collegiate level while completing my undergraduate program. There are unique benefits to being part of a team, working toward a common goal, pushing yourself to be better and being made better by your fellow teammates and competitors while offering support and encouragement to your teammates. I've learned that I enjoy working toward self-improvement while doing something I love athletically.  I believe that academics paired with a sport contribute to the growth of a well-rounded person.  I hope to be offered the chance to prove myself at the next level.  Thank you for your time!!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
