My name is Diana Calzada and I started playing tennis when I was 4. I stopped playing for 4 years after moving to the US from Puerto Rico, but started playing again my freshman year of high school. My love for tennis started the second I began playing and I’ve known I wanted to play at the collegiate level since. It’d be an amazing opportunity.
On the court my biggest strength is my serve and speed. I’m an agile player that’ll use my athleticism to my advantage and fight for every point. I’m very coachable and will take any chance to become better. I strive to be the hardest worker there.
I carry these diligent tendencies into the classroom as well. I have a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.5 weighted GPA. I take a set of rigorous coursework full of honors classes and AP classes. I also take the time to become involved in school and take part in clubs like NHS, HOSA, PPI, and FZNiam.
I work year round on tennis with private lessons and tournaments. During the fall I play for my high school varsity team where I’ve achieved many accolades like 1st Team All Conference, GAC Champion, 1st place individual districts in 2022, and 2022 State Qualifier.
I’m looking for a college where I can have fun but also challenge myself and improve as the years go on. Academics also play a big part considering I want to start my premed track and eventually go to medical school. I consider time management and prioritizing some of my strongest qualities as I have been able to balance sports, school and social interactions quite well.
I am open to all options and want to ultimately play at the highest level I can.
