Personal Statement
I have been playing tennis since the age of five and have loved every minute of it. My father introduced me to the sport in hopes that it would build my physical strength as well as my mental fortitude. Playing an individual sport from a young age has taught me self control, patience, and to always give 100% until the last point is over. My journey with tennis has not been easy. About four years ago I suffered from a stress fracture in my dominant elbow because my joints were sensitive and the amount of tennis I was playing caused severe bruising to my growth plate. The only way my elbow could recover was with complete rest, and to wait for my growth plate to close. My father and I both agreed that I had to continue to be active and keep my physical endurance, so I began practicing a left handed forehand. A few years later, my elbow is completely healed and I now play with two forehands.
Besides tennis, I spend most of my free time at the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad as a certified Emergency Medical Technician. I joined the squad in December of 2018, enrolled in an accelerated EMT course in January, and officially became nationally certified in the beginning of this July. I became an EMT because I love to help people in their times of need and find a solution to the problem presented in front of me. Being an EMT has influenced me to be more productive in a shorter period of time, and to be resourceful with the tools around me. Also, it has solidified my passion to pursue a career in the medical field as a physician assistant. I hope to find a strong academic University that combines my passion for tennis as well as my career pursuits for the next four years.
