My name is Maria Poulos and I have been playing tennis since I am 6 years old, first recreationally, now competitively for High School. I aspire to play college tennis due to my pure love of the sport. When I hit a forehand winner down the line, my soul smiles. I give 150% on the court and I know when the match is over that I have given it my all. What makes me different is the strength of my character and love of humanity. During my sophomore summer break, I traveled to Lima, Peru with the campus ministry department of my school and 12 other students. We went on a mission trip to a children's orphanage with genetic disorders, where we helped the children with their daily activities, played with them, took them to the park and fed them. These 10 days gave my a very unique perspective on how fortunate I am to be healthy and be physically able to play a sport. When I approach a match, it is always with a degree of humility and gratitude. I am lucky enough to play a sport I love at a competitive level and achieve a feeling of accomplishment when I win a match. My academics always play an important role as I strive to have a high average in my classes as evidenced by my 3.9 GPA. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me.
