Katie Carpenter '19 Recruiting Profile

I began playing tennis my freshman year and I absolutely loved it, you could not get me off of the courts! However our school didn’t have a girls team, so I was on a team with basically all boys. Which honestly wasn’t bad because they helped improve my game tremendously! With my hard work and determination I was able to land a spot at first doubles. My sophomore year I remainded at first doubles. As junior year rolled along I realized I wanted to take tennis further than high school so I began taking lessons at a racket club a little over an hour away from home. I’d go up once or twice every week and work with my private instructor. As the season rolled around I earned my spot at 3rd singles but soon realized I missed my doubles partner so I would play wherever coach wanted me for the day for I loved playing either position. As the end of the season came about our 1 singles graduated and our 2 singles is returning to her home country,  Japan. For my senior year I will be leading the team and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Gallia Academy Tennis, and my hopefully future home courts.
