I’ve been in love with tennis since as long as I can remember. When I was five years old my dad would take me to golf and I always ended up at the tennis courts when I was supposed to be with him at the range. He would turn around to find me and inevitability I would be with the “big kids” at the tennis courts listening to music and having fun. After the third or fourth time, my dad finally realized that he wasn’t going to have a golf buddy but instead a tennis player. I think he may have cried a little but soon got on board and my mother and I started this long journey that we are still on to this day.
My goal has always been to play college tennis, find a good fit with a cohesive team, great coach and great academics is paramount in my future decision. I would love to have a group of teammates that I could grow with and be friends with for the rest of my life.
I have been the number one player on my high school team for three of the four years and have only lost four matches in my whole high school career. I have also been captain of my team for the last two years which has allowed me to grow into a leadership role. What I have enjoyed the most is planning on who is going to play where and loudly cheering on the rest of my team after I won my match. Watching one of my teammates fight through a tough match is very rewarding and I learn a lot from watching them as well.
In addition to high school tennis, I’ve been involved in club tennis for around 10 years now. I train during the week and play tournaments both at home and on the road. I’m proud of my record but realize that I can get better and work every day to be a better player, as well as a better team member. I also enjoy serving the community and volunteering with the elderly.
Academically, I have a lot of interest in business. Both of my parents are in business and have their Masters degrees, which makes me realize how important it is to excel in academics. I am lucky to play a sport that will last a lifetime understand and I am excited to take the next step to build a strong foundation to my academic career.
I strongly believe that I would be a great attribute to any team that I join and look forward to speaking with coaches that have interest in what I can bring to the program.
