Personal Statement
As a 16 year old senior at Saint Gertrude High School I pride myself on being a good student that develops strong relationships with both friends and teachers. I am enrolled in Honors and AP classes and hope to pursue biology, meteorology and/or aviation in college. I was introduced to my community's tennis coach in March of 2020 after school shut down due to covid. After just a few months I quickly developed a love for the sport. I have worked hard to become a contributing member of my high school varsity team which is currently enjoying it's highest ranking year in the VISAA conference. I am currently playing as the team's number one and received the honor of being voted Captain by my teammates. My coaches have commented on my quick development and enthusiasm. I have a lot of power and am working on using it with consistency. I currently play both singles and doubles with a definite preference for doubles. There is little I enjoy more than aggressive net play. I am an athletic and dynamic player with aspirations of enjoying a winning season at my new position.
Having only played tennis competitively for a short time I have a lot to learn and am interested in joining a 4 year college program interested in further developing young players. I hope my positive attitude, dedication and leadership skills are attractive to tennis programs at the collegiate level. I am open to practicing with a team in order to further develop my skills and demonstrate my ability to contribute competitively.
