Hi, my name is Malika Warnick. I’m a Junior at Moses Lake High School in Washington state. My dad introduced me to tennis when I was 5 years of age while we were living in Saudi Arabia. I played my first tournament at the age of eight in Dubai. It was intensely hot, and I barely knew how to keep score, but I recall loving the competition and being very exciting to be around so many young players from all over the world.
As a high school freshman in 2019, I was number one singles on the girls’ varsity team, and I began 2020 as number one until the season prematurely ended due to Covid 19. During my freshman year, I made it to the semi-finals at our end of season District tournament. I also won the Conference Coaches Award. In early 2020, I won the Preseason Varsity Club Tournament at the Yakima Tennis Club. I plan on playing many more tournaments in the future to get as much experience as possible. I'm very driven to do my best and see what I can accomplish as a tennis player.
School has always been a priority for me. I've managed to get a 4.0 GPA both my Freshman and Sophomore years. I'm committed to working hard in school because I value learning and it's fun to be successful. I took AP European History as a sophomore and this year I am taking AP United States History. Some hobbies of mine are playing my guitar, snow skiing, hiking, camping, swimming, participating in the school band, and hanging out with friends.
