Personal Statement
I live in a small farming community in southeast Washington state, where my family has farmed the same land for five generations. There are nine boys in my generation and me, the youngest. I’m pretty sure the boys are the reason why I’m competitive at everything, from getting good grades to sports to getting the last ice cream bar.
When I was three I started playing tennis and also started ballet. I added soccer but ended up devoting all my time to tennis in third grade. I love singles but playing the net in doubles is my favorite part of the sport. I also really like the strategy of doubles and working with a partner to win a match.
Playing tennis as a junior is a big part of my life right now. I’m learning how to be organized and keep a tight schedule, and how to balance tennis with school and the rest of my life. I am looking forward to playing college tennis because as much as I love competing individually, I really want to be part of a team.
