Personal Statement
My name is Bailey Wery Tagaban, I attended Juneau Douglas High School and graduated at the end of the 18-19 school year.
For my goals in collegiate athletics, I would love to be able to compete at a higher level and not have my track career end in high school. While I only started to compete in high school my junior and senior year, I am very passionate about track because of the mechanics and technique behind it, my teammates, and being able to compete. Where I live, soccer and track are both in the spring so it was a bit difficult to balance my seasons, as I was also a varsity soccer player. Even though I wasn’t able to compete in a lot of the meets, track was really the sport that had my heart. The only thing that stopped me from competing in track was my commitment to my soccer team because I had a big role to fill, I didn’t want to let them down and track is more of an individual sport. I am a very committed person and something that sets me apart from other athletes is that when I say I’m going to give it my all, I do. I don’t like it when things are done halfway and I go to the ends of my abilities whenever I compete. I’m also a very good teammate and athlete to have on a team, I have a very positive personality and I love to learn and better myself so I’m very coachable. One very important thing about me though, is that God comes first and that involves my major because I want to major in Church ministry or intercultural studies, so if a college doesn’t offer that, it may hinder my choices. All of this considered, I would love to be on a collegiate team wherever that may be, and we can figure out the rest of the details from here. Thank you for your time and consideration.
