My collegiate goals are not limited by one discipline or another, but are rather the general experience of college that I am aspiring for. What I mean by this is that college will be a challenge hopefully academically and athletically, because these two components make up a large percentage of my life. I plan on majoring in International Relations and then going on to work as a diplomat in the United Nations some day. My entire life, I have methodically planned my future and done everything in my power to have that idealist vision align with reality, and that sets me apart from many other recruits. I am more driven to achieve my goals than I thought possible ten years and am willing and able to devote every one of my faculties towards achieving a goal, be it academic, social, or athletic. While some may perceive this fierce doggedness to a task as overt competitiveness, that is not the case. Coming from an incredibly small high school, I have learned since middle school the value of interpersonal relations and cooperation amongst individuals, be it on a project or a sports team, which is directly applicable to fitting in on a collegiate level athletics team. I have juggled sports and school since elementary school, so I believe I can maintain an important balance between athletic involvement and school, which is a crucial component of being a student-athlete and being able to maintain a high GPA, as I have done so this year with my 4.00 unweighted GPA. In summation, I understand the value of hard work as the means to achieve any goal, and am not afraid to attempt to reach my goals, however far-fetched they may seem to some, because my future-oriented mindset makes me look past the present and into my future.
