Personal Statement
I am going into my senior year at Chilliwack Secondary School in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. I am a thrower who specializes in hammer and shot put, but I also do discus. Looking forward, I aspire to compete at the collegiate level.
I have been competing in track and field since grade eight. At the 2015 BC High School Track and Field Championships, I got 3rd in discus, 4th in hammer, and 1st in shot put. I have twice competed at the Canadian Youth Championships; in 2013 as a midget and in 2014 as a youth, where I got 2nd in shot put and 6th in Hammer. My personal best in the shot put is 11.98m (4kg), my personal best in the hammer throw is 47.86m (4kg), and in discus it is 36.54m.
My GPA for my grade eleven year is 3.7 and my average percentage is 88 %. Each year of high school I have maintained “A” honours, while also doing honours classes. I am registered with the NCAA Clearing House and I am registered to write my SAT in October. I have a good balance between a high academic standing and training, and I hold myself to a high standard of work ethic that I apply to both my education and throwing.
When I am not practicing or studying, which is rare…. I love reading, playing other sports like basketball, and I also do some volunteer work. Furthermore, I have done some coaching with throwing, its fun to get to work with kids.
Finding a college that is good match for me is very important, so that I can push myself in the classroom and with my throwing.
