My name is Maijoy Wooten, I was born in Seattle, Washington and moved to Cathedral City, California in 2008. I am currently in the graduating class of 2019. I have four siblings and was raised by a single mother. Due to my financial situation I had to get a job my junior year to help be able to get the things I needed for my sports seasons. This will be my third year throwing shot put and my second year throwing discus. Besides track & field I am a basketball player for my hometown high school and I am also a boxer. Sports has always been a way out for me along with my two older twin brothers. I excel well in the classroom, but sports has always driven my academic career. I am a very hardworking athlete looking to take my talent and perfect it at the next level. I do believe I was born with natural strength, but I also believe that shot put and discus takes a lot of repetition and technique training; which I am preparing myself for this off season leading into my senior season of track and field. I am looking for a coaching staff that will push me and train me to be the very best athlete I am capable of being. To be apart of a team is to think beyond yourself; being that track is an individual sport that doesn't exclude track from these circumstances. I am determined to push myself and motivate my teammates to work hard and not just meet the bar but to set it.
