Hello my name is Tessa Anderson and I started cross country and track when I was ten years old and in fifth grade. I competed in USATF and was an All American at Cross Country Youth Nationals. I fell in love with the sport because of the competitive nature and how much fun I had while competing. Those things are completely true, but the sport has grown to mean so much more to me. Cross country and track gives me an outlet to let out stress and give me a place to be myself, I am able to come to practice in a bad mood and leave with a good one. I love how it is mostly mental, how it is up to you to run your own race and nobody else. The feeling after an amazing race or amazing workout is what I would describe as bliss. After all the hard work and sweat you put in it is one of the most gratifying things.
As a varsity athlete starting freshman year and a student taking all honors and AP classes, I can say that I am proud of how far I have come in this sport and in my life. I have struggled with finding mental grit to push myself before, but this sport has taught me that when I put myself to a task I can always complete it. I have leadership characteristics and very determined personality. I am also a very outgoing person, and this has allowed me to become a captain on my team as a sophomore. In school, my ability to push myself and use discipline has helped me to earn a 4.33 GPA. Through put my next two years of high school, I plan on pushing myself, physically and academically, to limits I have never gone before. I am capable of great things and I will push myself to get there, no matter what.
Running is one of my main passions in life and I would love to continue pursuing that passion during college. It is ideal to run somewhere that will continue to let me compete and improve myself athletically along with challenging me academically. Thank you for reading, and I hope to connect soon!
