I started competing competitively in Track and Field my freshman year of high school (2016-17). I was soon moved up to varsity and competed at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions with my 4x400m team later that season. Since I started running my freshman year, track has become a huge part of my life as I continue to become increasingly and enjoyingly immersed in it. These past two years, I improved my running skills enough to make it to NCS MOCs in an individual event, the 400m. I placed 5th in the race my sophomore year and 4th as a junior. Although I did not make it to the state championships as I had hoped, the high level of competition I experienced only furthered my drive to become a better athlete and continue to excel. I am hoping to qualify for the state championships next year. I am actively staying in shape through the off-season by competing on my high school’s Cross Country team. This has helped me build endurance for my longer races and create stronger bonds with other runners that I compete alongside.
Soon after I joined the sport, I realized how wonderful it feels to be a part of a group of athletes who encourage and support each other so much. In college, I would love to have a team filled with individuals who are all as motivated and passionate about Track and Field as I am. I also would love to be pushed academically which is why I would favor both an academically and athletically challenging school. Preferably, I would like to attend a college that has a competitive track team and also a nursing program so that I can begin my journey towards becoming a pediatric nurse.
