My name is Madeline Minutelli, and I am a junior at Grossmont High School in California. I have fallen in love with distance running, and plan to run cross country and distance track in college.
I was named Captain at the end of my Freshman year of high school, and I was very excited to be able to inspire my teammates to love the sport as much as I do. As Captain, I know the work you put in during practice is just as important as the effort put in on race day. I strive to model this for my teammates every day and support them to be their very best. I set several personal goals for my junior year. The first was to qualify for our State meet, which I did this past November. I was the first individual qualifier for D2 girls in San Diego, and finished sixth overall. I was also named to the All-County Team. Competing at State and Footlocker West Regionals were incredible experiences, and I look forward to running even stronger at both next year! My personal goals for this track season are to qualify for Arcadia and the Mt. Sac Relays, and I really want to do this by dipping under 5:00 for the 1600 and under 11:00 for the 3200.
I am interested in studying Mathematics or Engineering in college, and I am taking advanced courses in high school to help prepare me for this. I currently have a 4.58 GPA, and I scored 1300 on my SAT. Like running, school is very important to me. I am extremely disciplined which allows me to balance my course load and my training.
Accomplishments I am most proud of:
