Personal Statement

I have been running ever since my first 5k‘s in elementary school and have loved running ever since. Growing up, I have always been super active. I was dedicated to soccer and gymnastics, having no doubt in my mind that I would play one of the two in college. However,  I began track my freshman year of high school and fell in love with the sport and it’s community. I began pole vault because of my gymnastics background and it began to fill my whole life.

After my freshman school season, I began club off and on until the next school season. I faced some mental blocks, causing me to not PR that season. However, that only gave me further drive to keep going.  During my sophomore year, I began on JV, ending up receiving the Athlete of the Year award because of my dedication. During the end of the season I was moved up to varsity for championship season, proving to my coaches the athlete which I am. Junior season I faced many setbacks through a quad injury, however I kept working to earn my way through leagues and sectionals for my team.

Off season, I coach track and soccer to younger kids and continue club pole vault. Through doing so, I have had the ability to learn from and compete at the Reno National Pole Vault Summit with the coaching of college and Olympic competitors.
