My name is Kelani Guyton, and I am a class of 2022 Graduating Senior at Oakland Technical High School. Oakland Tech is a very competitive school, both Academically and Athletically. My GPA is currently 4.1 and in addition to my high school GPA, I have completed 7 Community College courses thus far, with the plans of adding one more course before I graduate. My high school course work includes College Preparatory, Honors and AP classes.
I am 5’9, 120 lbs, and I have been running Track & field for the last 6 years, with a specialty event of the Hurdles. I compete at the high school varsity level as well with my club sport, Oakland PAL. I am currently the Team Captain of the Oakland Technical High School Track & Field team. My teammates look to me for advice on how to prepare mentally right before an event. I am dedicated to my team, my sport and my academics.
As I look towards starting college in the Fall of 2022, I plan to attend a 4-year institution outside of my native state of CA and to see other parts of the country. My intended undergraduate major is Kinesiology. I want to blend my love for being an athlete and physically fit with my love and curiosity of medicine. My end career goal is to be a Sports Medicine Doctor for a Professional Athletic team. I am looking for a small/medium size school that has between 3,000- 25,000 undergraduate students. I am looking for a school that “feels right”. What matters to me the most is feeling comfortable with the campus, the neighborhood, my peers, teammates and coaches. I am open to attending and competing at the Division I and II school, as well as NAIA schools. I want to make an impact on the team and I want my team to impact their NCAA standings.
