Melody Chiu '25 Recruiting Profile

To grow as a person is to overcome adversity. With my emphasis on always working hard to develop my character and become a better runner, I aspire to take on challenges and learn valuable lessons at the end of the day. As a current team captain who has worked through three coaching changes in the span of five months, five total from freshman to junior year, and have continuously shown up to lead by example and support all my teammates despite the passing of my very close teammate and friend; I have experienced how my sport can change your life. Rather than dwelling on the negative, I strive to always put in my best effort to become better. Balancing life and the academic rigor that high school life is, I know that running and seeing one's goals come to fruition takes perseverance and grit. Through the tough times I still show up with a genuine attitude to cultivate a positive environment and support others with a passion, regardless of level of ability, and to contribute to something greater than myself.
