Personal Statement

Running has always been one of my favorite forms of physical activity. Even as a child I participated in run club before school with my dad - achieving some of the highest lap counts among my peers. I've always been drawn to individual effort sports because of the focus and independence required to compete well. My father and I traveled frequently while I was growing up and my middle school didn't have a sports program. Despite in-person classes shutting down during the COVID-19 outbreak, I was immediately interested when I heard my high school was having track tryouts. Pole vault happened to be on the field that same day and I knew I had to try it. It ended up being the perfect match for my independent spirit while contributing to a team at the same time and I've loved it ever since!

I achieved my PR of 7'6 last year while taking gold at the San Diego City Conference JV Invitational, my first full season due to Covid-19. This year I'm aiming for a 10ft+ PR by the end of the spring season. I'm currently working on my bar work in order to improve my inversion and technique. As part of a collegiate track team I'll bring my motivation for self improvement and unrelenting competitive spirit. I'll always work to not only beat the competition but also my previous records. Currently I'm involved with Girl Scouts and working to complete my Gold Award with a focus on mental health in my community and the importance of listening to others. I've always been very gifted in my academics and try to capitalize on it by taking advanced classes that interest me. I've been trying different sports all my life from soccer to softball and even golf.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
