Personal Statement
My name is Jennifer Desouchet, I stand at 5 foot 5 inches, weigh 105 pounds and hope to run competetively at the college level. I feel extremely qualified to compete at the college level based on what I have accomplished throughout high school along with my determination to be the best at what I love to do, run. I have been all-state 10 times throughout my high school career thus far and have been a state champion three times. At the 2010 4A state track meet, I took first place in the 1600, second in the 800, and became all-state in the 3200 and 1600 meter relays. I was one of three girls at the entire meet to be all-state in four events. I have two school records at my high school, and am one-tenth of a second away from a third. I have been all-conference for both cross country and track for each of my years in high school and have also recieved a letter in both for each year. Since the beginning of high school, I have been considered a leader to the team and am now a captain of both cross country and track teams. I find that no matter what troubles the day may bring, I will eternally feel welcome and belonging on my cross country and track teams. While searching for a college, I find that I am most interested in schools that can offer a good environment both team and academic-wise. I am looking for a college that will appreciate my talent and will not look at me as just another runner. I am also looking for schools on either the east or west coast, and possibly an Ivy-league. I value the worth of a good education, for I do not expect to live off of my running abilities for the rest of my life. My family is sending three children through college at the same time on a middle-class salary, so we are certainly looking for financial aid or scholarships of some sort. Wherever I do find myself in college, I hope to be an All-American and a great asset to whatever team I belong to.
