Personal Statement
I started my running career in elementary school when I won the local fun run. After this event, running became my passion and it still is. My name is Nicki DeSouchet. I am 5'5" and 115 pounds with an athletic physique. My freshman year I was the anchor of our 4x800 meter relay. We went into the race with no one especially looking out for us. During the race we were in third place when our third runner was coming down the final stretch. We were down by about twenty to thirty meters. When I received the baton there wasn't a thought in my mind except for catching the girls in front of me and winning the state championship. I caught up to them and passed them on the final turn. It came down to the final straight away and I was sure we were going to win. Suddenly one of the competitors came and passed me. I thought about giving up but then I stuck in there and it came down to a lean at the finish line. We won and I ended up running a split of 2:13 as a freshman. This race gave me confidence to tear it up the next day in the open 800 meter run as I became a state runner up with a time of 2:14 my freshman year. This is one of the many exciting days my running career that I will always remember. I was the lead runner of a state championship cross country team. I placed 3rd as an individual as a junior. I was one of three girls in the state of Colorado to be all-state in four events at the state track meet as a junior. I am a leader for my cross country team and I am the team captain along with my twin sister, Jenny DeSouchet. I am a very driven person and would make a significant part of anyone's team. I am a three time MVP for track and cross country. I received the most outstanding female athlete award in my whole school as a junior. I also received most outstanding freshman female athlete award. I am not only dedicated on the cross country course and the track, but I am also a very dedicated honor student. I have a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.167
and I am currently enrolled in three AP classes. I took three AP classes last year. I'm looking to go into pre medical study in college. I would not only be an excellent choice for anyone's college as a runner, but I would also contribute great aspects academically.
