Personal Statement

I am currently a Junior in High School in Denver, Colorado working towards my full IB Diploma with a focus on Biology and Sciences. I come from a loving and supportive family of athletes that value both sports and education. I've always enjoyed playing sports and began developing my speed and footwork with soccer in elementary school then multi-sports in rec leagues, middle school, and high school. I have a deep passion for competing and working out and I put in the extra work in every sport I play. I would love to continue my academic and athletic career at a high level in college where I am interested in Medical and Biological Sciences for pre-med or dentistry in the future. I'm looking for a large diverse school community with a high quality of life, a program that feels like home and will be a good fit to challenge me athletically as well as academically and help me grow as a person. I believe I have the athleticism and potential to compete for a college team and also have the drive to work hard to compete for you nationally with a personal goal of competing at the highest level in the Olympics. I have made the most of my free time and continued to train consistently during Covid improving in all 4 throwing events. I'm pretty new at this sport. I just started learning shot put in March of 2019 and Discus in May of 2019. Our High School did not have a throwing coach so I have only been training once a week with a private coach. I know I can increase my distance substantially with more consistent training in the future. In October of 2019 I began to learn hammer and weight throw. I recently switched from glide to rotational in the shot put in Nov. 2019 .

2 Day Throws Camp Jan. 4-5, 2020 at Colorado State University, Fort Collins Colorado; Brian Bedard, Head Coach - Track & Field Colorado State University This camp was very beneficial. I began as a new rotational thrower and left with more skill and confidence to compete right away in the 2020 indoor season. I also gained experience in the discus during this camp and you can expect to see a HUGE increase in my discus marks once 2020 outdoor season begins.
