Jayda Washington '26 Recruiting Profile

Greetings, I am Jayda, a high school sophomore attending Coconut Creek HS in the CTA Magnet Program. My speed and agility have been an asset while showing excitement in supporting my teammates with encouragement. I combine practices with strength and conditioning, nutrition, and physical theraphy to become the best athlete I can be. My best events in Track and Field are Long Jump, 200m, 400m, and 4x100 meter relays.

In addition to participating in athletics, I am a member of Mentoring Tomorrows Leaders (MTL), Creek Chess Club, Caribbean Student Association,  Broward County Chess Queen Ambassador, Dare to Care Outreach, and mentoring young girls in athletics, chess, and STEM. I currently has 290 community service hours during my freshman and sophomore year. 

In addition, I am the recipient of several awards including the 2024 Student Athlete Scholars Membership, NCWIT National Honorable Mention 2024, 2023 and 2024 South Florida Affiliate Award Winner, The 2022 NASA Perseverance Award, and the 2020 US Rocket and Space Center Hall of Fame Scholarship. I have been active with Black Girls Code- Miami Chapter, along with Word Camp Miami (Affiliated with WordPress), IT Women, Vex Robotics, Tech Trek Summer Program with AAUW, Code Art Miami, and AIAA. In 2021, I was the Keynote Speaker for the Ted-Ed Student Talk at the Games for Change Conference and the 2021 iSummit Virtual Conference speaking on how gaming positively affects mental health. My future goal is to become a student/athlete in track and field at a US college/university pursuing engineering, computer science, or STEM related careers.

Currently, I am a member of Run It Sports AAU and USTAF Club Track Team. It has allowed me to build up my speed and performance techniques with experienced coaches and team parents who believe in my abilities. My future goals are to attain an athletic and academic scholarship to become an aerospace engineer.
