The foundation of myself is strongly built upon my years of competitive gymnastics; it engrossed my life for ten years. It shaped me to be disciplined, passionate, and strong-minded, but if I wanted to continue down this path I would have to sacrifice the level of my education. I had to decide between virtual education and gymnastics or a new sport with honor level and AP class work. I chose the new sport and a rigorous education. Track was a natural transition. I was able to do all the things I loved: compete, jump, and sprint. What more could I ask for?
During my eighth grade track season, I was asked to move up to varsity to compete in the 4x4 and the long jump. With the honor of doing this, my confidence and love for this new sport grew and my true passion for track emerged. Two years later, as a sophomore, I made it to states in triple jump and pole vault and continued to earn a unweighted 4.0 GPA.
Going into my junior year season, I am more motivated than ever to make it to states and podium, be team captain, and secure myself a position on a college track team while earning myself a high level education.
