My name is Mya Troup and my collegiate goals and aspirations is to participate in track and field and become a valuable attribute to your team. I would like to get a scholarship to take the financial burden off of my mom. I am currently a senior at Westover High School in Albany Georgia and have been participating in track since 9th grade. I have always wanted to do the sport. However, my mom put me in gymnastics and I started competitive gymnastics when I was 5
until I was 16. It became a hassle to do both. Therefore, I decided to focus more on track and field. My 9th and 10th grade year I did pole vault and went to state both years. My 11th grade year I started the high jump and the 100 and 300 meter hurdles and went to state in both the
high jump and the 100 meter hurdles. I know that I am capable at competing at the college level with the help of my current coaches and the college level coaches. If given the opportunity, I know that I can help bring home championships because I'm very athletic and have the will to learn. I only wished that I started track and field at an earlier age because I think I could have probably gotten a state title. Therefore, what makes me different from other recruits is that I was a beginner pole vaulter and went to state, I was a beginner 100 meter hurdle participate and went to state, and finally I was a beginner high jumper and went to state. I jumped a 5'2" my first year. I'm hoping to improve in all events my senior year.
My academics are good because I currently a have a 3.458 GPA. I am currently a dual enrollment student and I also took AP English and AP Government while in high school. Hopefully, by the end of my senior year, I will bring my GPA up to at least 3.6.
Please give me the opportunity to showcase skills.
Thanks!
