Personal Statement
I first began running in the 7th grade after winning a race and deciding to try out for the cross country team. Ever since then and have been in love with the sport and have been constantly striving for improvement. I have now been the number one runner on my school’s varsity team for all two years that have been in high school. I have also received numerous awards including, 2017 Track and Field Team MVP, 2017 Atlanta International School Athlete of the Year, 2017 Cross Country MVP, 2018 Track and Field MVP, and 2018 Atlanta International School Athlete of the Year. I also played for my schools junior varsity basketball team freshman year but decided not to continue so that I could focus on my running as well as academics. During my training I push my limits and as a result my times have constantly been dropping. No matter the sport or activity, I always give it my all and strive for improvement.
During my offseason, I attend numerous running camps in order to learn about the sport as well as meeting others that share my passion. This past summer I attended the USATF Cross Country Camp at the Olympic Training Center. I also attended Green Mountain running camp and will be attending two more Nike running camps this coming summer.
In school, I apply myself to my school’s difficult curriculum and give maximum effort. I attend an International School in the heart of Atlanta and am fluent in French and have completed five years of learning Chinese. This past school year, I had the privilege to tutor kindergarten students and help them with their language studies. I have been able to balance my studies along with my athletics and I have no doubt that I will be able to do so at the college level as well.
My favorite part of running is the excitement of improvement. I am dedicated to my improvement as a student athlete and look forward to giving my all at the college level.
