Personal Statement

I am very involved in my school, community, and my church. Through high school I have been involved in: Track, Cheerleading, Art Club, Drama Club, FFA, FCCLA, Environmental Club, SWAT, NHS, Spanish Club, Cross Country, Youth Group, Lamoine Christian Service Camp, Vacation Bible School, On Broadway Dance Studio, Powderpuff Football, and Fulton County Teen Staff.  I am a cheerleader and a dancer. I have been dancing in a studio since I was three and I started a school dance team. I had to give a speech at a board meeting and get it cleared. I have shown leadership in all of the clubs I am in such as being an FFA officer for three years and Art Club and FCCLA secretary for two. I am in National Honors Society and through this I have shown support in my peers as well as my community. I have been involved in delivering food baskets and canned food drives all throughout my high school career. I have been in SWAT all four years of high school and this year I was asked to represent our school and our Students with Advocacy Training group as a Fulton County Teen Staff member. I have been in drama club for all four years of high school and I have had a strong role in it every year. I have had a part time job as a cashier at Astoria Hometown Market since I turned sixteen. Although I can only work two days a week due to my involvement in athletics and clubs, I believe it has helped me become a more responsible person because I have shown that even with all of the things I am involved and having a part time job I can maintain good grades. Track became a very important part in my life my sophomore year of high school. I had not really been able to find something I was good at I played volleyball, but I was not good and I sat the bench. I was told I was fast and I should try running track and I did. That spring I joined the track team and I soon realized that I was pretty good. My first meet I placed third in the 800 and knew that would be my main event. by the second meet I had already taken another nine seconds off of my time. Every meet I continue to cut down my time. I am very devoted to staying in shape and running at least every other day.
